Welcome to the Wireless Information Systems Lab!  WISL is part of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of California, San Diego.

As our name suggests, our main driver is system level research. This means that we do not focus solely on theory, but try to approach our projects from a more encompassing system perspective, ranging from hardware through software and applications. Theoretical solutions are complemented with practical real-world experimentation.

Currently, our research is mainly focused on networked information systems, such as mesh networks, sensor networks or ad hoc networks. In terms of our specializations within the ECE Department, we straddle the line between communication theory and systems (CTS), and computer engineering (CE). Because of our system focus, our projects are often highly interdisciplinary, and we have collaborations with researchers at Calit2, the Center for Wireless Communications (CWC), Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the MAE department, and other institutions.
