Electronic Devices and Materials
Professor Eric Fullerton joined the Engineering faculty in 2006. His
research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of magnetic
nanostructures, both as a probe of materials in reduced dimensions and for
the development of novel magnetic storage technologies.
Research Interests
Materials and device structures for magnetic recording and
nano-technologies; thin film and superlattice growth, interfacial and
thin-film magnetism; synchrotron x-ray and neutron scattering
Current Research
Spin transport and current-induced magnetic reversal in wires and
nanopillars; Patterned magnetic nano-structures; Resonant x-ray imaging of
magnetic nanostructures
Honors and Distinctions
Exceptional Performance Award, Argonne National Laboratory 1996.
Fellow of the American Physical Society - 1998.
IBM Outstanding Technical Achievement Award - 2002.
